In fact this is not the top of Mount Wellington but the view from The Springs, halfway up. Every man and his dog were up there, it was such a pleasant Sunday afternoon. Some people would like to have a Cable Car going up the Mountain, with a Restaurant etc. etc. but I must say I think it is nicer that you make your own way up, and take a picnic. We did notice an increase in the number of motor cycles and indeed pushbikes for the more hardy folk, it must be quite a hairy ride down from the top.
