Off we go,

Spreewald is a very picturesque area, lots of canals on which are only allowed non-motorised punts and only so many licences are given, so it is never too crowded. The punts these days can be made of aluminium, less upkeep, more money, but the original ones are made of wood, and all to the same dimensions and all very shallow.

Most of the little houses along the banks of the canals can only be reached by water so they have their own punts tied up, and even boathouses to keep them in.

We had a very pleasant couple of hours and were very lucky with the weather, as it had looked as if it could have turned unpleasant, but for us (we must have done something right) it only got better.
