Lilliput Land!

Just popped up to Hobart to see the bi-annual exhibition of the Miniatures Group to which I used to belong!
There are some clever people around, and their patience must know no bounds.

Went over to friends Eileen and Ray yesterday to have a play with their latest 'toy'.   They have just had their lift installed and are as pleased as punch with it!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HEIDI

We will celebrate tonight .

Thank you for being such a fantastic daughter. You an inspiration and I don't know how we would manage without you.

Isambard Brunel

Kenneth Branagh (alias Wallender) gave a very impressive speech at the opening ceremony as you will see in a following post.

Had a Senior Moment and couldn't remember his name!

Don't forget, if you don't get all the photo

Just click on it and it comes up complete.

Cheers, it's time to go back to bed, don't think Ken has even missed me!

Look who got the top job!

It's good old Bradley Wiggins. Good for him, first time a Pom was won theTour de France

Sorry a few errors in the next post

Can't correct them so easily!

Wallender wasn't Wallender

He was the start of the Industrial Revolution. Britain went from being a green and pleasant land to one of factories and the five rings were forged right before our eyes.

Mr Bean was there

He was playing with the London Symphony Orchestra and even managed a run on the beach!

The queen arrived in style!

Accompanied by none other than James Bond!

The opening ceremony

Wow it was fantastic. Couldn't sleep so up I got!

Almost there!

The splash back is finished, the shutter is in position in the corner, the lights are up (although you can't see them) the floating floor looks great. All in all we are almost there! Well done Tim.

Dinner guests

Our guests,Debbie and Mark, will be interested to know that I can now get photos straight from my iPad onto my Blog as these two photos show!!

Sorry I didn't warn you I was going to take a photo, next time I will give you time to pose!

Failure!

Last Friday I went to a "Kaffee Klatsch" with a group of German friends, three from Berlin, one from Hamburg (Hummel Hummel) one from Cologne and a man who was a P/OW in Poland.    It was all very civilised (as you would expect!) with matching sets of cup, saucer and plate, just like the Germans do!   The table was well set, with lots of food, considering it was just "Morning Tea" and I was quite taken by the "Pigs Ears which our hostess said she had made herself.    I asked her if she would give me the recipe and first of all she was a bit coy, but then said it was just bought Puff Pastry coated with melted butter and 'special' sugar (which turned out to be Demerara, which I had always thought you could not get here!" then folded and cut up into individual pieces.

So when I got home I had a go, but mine didn't turn out like Pigs Ears at all, they looked like this, so its back to the drawing board.

Our Camelias.

It is  great, being in a different house, to see just what is coming out in the garden.   We have several different camelias, but up to now this one is my favourite although it does not last long in a vase.

Finally going to join PROBUS

Went to my first (of three) PROBUS Meeting and was pleasantly surprised at how many faces I recognized there, it was like being among friends! And what a co incidence, the subject of the speaker was NO DIG gardens so it was something close to my heart and I have already chosen a spot out the back for my No Dig veggie garden, which will only be small, I don't need a huge plot. Hope I looked "smart enough" for PROBUS!

What is the plural of Ibis? Ibissis, or Ibises?

Whatever it is, they are definitely NOT my favourite birds!

Macca

While we were in Brisbane I went down to see Macca performing. he is the one with the mike!   He doesn't get any more handsome as he gets older, unlike some men!   He had a good turnout, at least the oldies like him.

"Macca in the morning makes my day,
he picks me up when I feel down.
I wait all week for Macca on a Sunday morning"

Thats the jingle.
