Got into strife!

for dazzling the Police - with my headlights!

First time I have experienced being followed by a police car with its lights flashing, telling me to pull over!

Good job that I had an alibi for not having been drinking, as we had been to a Hobart Rep. Company production of The Phantom of the Opera, and had enjoyed it, despite the limitations of producing it in our Theatre Royal - oldest theatre in Oz!

No photos I'm afraid, either of the performance or the Police, didn't want to push my luck!

Mandie is into felting!

If you comb your hair while visiting the Newhams Jnr. Beware, Mandie will make it into a cat!
This is the hair of their big fluffy cat Humphrey, so I will keep my eye on him, if he seems to be going bald I will have to report her to the RSPCA,

Art?

Second grandson William has decided to tart his already beautiful body up a bit!   I asked if it hurt!   He said 'yes'  I said 'good'.

Reflections!

Just messing about with my camera and thought this an interesting shot!   New neighbour over the road is having work done on his leaky roof and I caught the Roofer's reflection in the window of the house next door!

Hurray

First time I haven't had to reach for the hot pack as soon as I got up, my back is almost back to normal. No longer need I look like a little Japanese lady, with a pack on my back, secured by a scarf round my waist, or feel like a suicide bomber, with Karlo's tens machine round my waist and wires dangling!

Out with the Deep Heat and the Pedimol, yippee
(All I've got to do now is try to take it easy and not do anything stupid!)

Kimchee pancake

Can't wait for the full fermentation to take place, and read that you can use it straight away, so I had a go at my first pancake! Managed to flip it three times but in my opinion it is too fresh, didn't go crunchy like the one I watched on YouTube!! Tasted a bit like a frittata but spicier! Had a visit from Tim and Mandie and what was left was quickly devoured by Tim, who gave it his tick of approval!

I give up!

Try as I may, Blogger does everything it can to stress me out and put my Posts in the WRONG order. From the next three posts read the last one first , then the first one then the second. Are you as confused as me? Good!

Soak it for two hours

Then drain and salt, then do all the other stuff, like making "porridge" with a glutinous rice flour.
Then chop up all the other raw stuff, then mix it all together

And it finishes up like this!

I have had to DOUBLE wrap it in cling film otherwise it will stink the whole house out!

Kimchee!!

Another learning curve coming up. Next international meal features Korea and I am doing Entree! So Kimchee Pancake is on the menu, thanks to YouTube! Looks so simple when you watch her, but it took a large part of my afternoon.

Kimchee features hugely in the Korean diet, it is a fermented cabbage, sounds diabolical, looks ok but smells! And will get smellier as it sits in the fridge, fermenting away for a couple of weeks.

Will use some of it to have a trial run in a week or so, so will keep you posted.

You start off with a lovely fresh Asian cabbage........

Can't sleep (again)

so got me (and him - to keep him sweet) a cup of tea and came back to bed.

Don't think it was anything to do with

the mummified rats found in the Meat Room during the restoration excavations at Shene the other day!!

Cos that was counteracted by

the beautiful birds nests found in the same location

Could be the new acquisition

(Isn't Gumtree wonderful)

For the uninitiated Gumtree is a local edition of eBay and this only necessitated a quick trip up the mountain to Ferntree to seal the deal!

Now all I need is a lesson on how to use all it's bells and whistles!

Oh well, goodnight!

Reflections!

Pleased with the way this photo came out. From inside the glass looks normal but it is dimpled, or rippled glass and taken from outside you get this beautiful reflection of the pleasant landscape and lovely blue sky of a spring day in sunny Tasmania. Almost looks like a painting.

This little girl is ready for bed

but which bed? Plenty to chose from at Shene.

Shene

Today we went out to Shene, an interesting property which is being painstakingly and lovingly restored by an enthusiastic couple who have moved down here from Queensland. There is a Homestead but also a very imposing stable block, where we enjoyed morning tea, albeit a bit early in the day for me, I should not have eaten so much porridge!

A few photos from today
