Scenic Drive Christmas Party.

Today we had our Christmas Lunch at the local Bowls Club. It was lots of fun and had a good attendance, not only from our street but also a few others from Redwood Village. I got the job of MC and had a few jokes to tell, so I had to chose clean ones as I did not want to offend anyone.

Bruce Courtney

Is dead. After publishing 22 best sellers he has finally gone. He is getting a lot of good coverage on TV and in the Press and will be sadly missed.

We are on watering duty

Heidi is up in Burnie so night and morning we pop over to water and open or shut the door.

As you can see, things are growing, if you compare it with the previous hoots I put on here.

Sunday lunch

We had Eva (Heidi's art teacher) and her husband Klaus for lunch today so it was Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding and Nigella's wicked Chocolate pots for dessert.

We ate outside, the weather is lovely even now, and it was very enjoyable.

Christmas Angels and beautiful roses

One thing about having Germans to visit, you get wonderful presents, and a home baked Christstollen as well!

Vandalism at the Community Garden (again)

Wilfred is not amused at what the kids did to his potatoes!

Healthy looking lunch?

How is this for a healthy looking lunch, in the middle of the day too, so I have plenty of time to work off any would be calories!

Tap the photo to expose the chicken!

New acquisition!

We are slowly getting more Aussiefied! We are now the proud owners of a Webber BBQ so that we can cook alfresco. The first effort was this chicken which in my humble opinion was a bit overcooked and then we had Atlantic Salmon, which was good but again a bit more dried out than usual, then last night it was the turn of the humble lamb chop, with scallop potatoes and set potatoes, good. No smells in the kitchen, just a grill plate to clean with a very efficient wire brush, and THAT can be Ken's job!

Still thinking of the wedding

Luckily they did not need these on the day but you could forgive them for getting them "just in case" as the weather leading up to The Big Day was absolutely appalling.

Have patience

This little lot covers three pages, so don't forget to go to Older Posts when you get to the bottom of the page. (Its like trying to teach your Grandmother to suck eggs!) Wonder where that saying came from!!

Whoops

Made a couple of errors, which are not easy to correct once you have published,so you will have to forgive me if I have repeated myself (just put it down to my age!) (and have another lolly!)

Have been rather busy this last couple of days.

Friend Elaine's daughter was getting married so we offered to go down and set the outside stuff up for her.   The theme was Travel and Retro, hence the suitcases, antique golf clubs, trike and boxes.
They were really lucky with the weather, the week had bought rain, rain and more rain, the day before we even had a Cyclone, but Saturday was picture perfect and as you can see, the setting was magnificent.

The Lolly Bar - different -

The thinking behind this was that love and lollies make the World go round.

What a great Venue

The tables looked superb, with their seven vases, bottles, and pots of different white flowers.
Statistics:  There were 11 tables, each with 7 containers of flowers, plus all the other vases scattered around the place (even in the ladies loo there where white tulips) and these all came down from Kingston, complete with water, the day before, while Kingston was in the middle of a Cyclone!

The Signpost and the Notice Board

told them where to go and what to do while they waited for the happy couple, who were coming down by car, stopping for photos on the way.

The signpost and the blackboard told them where to go and what to do (in the nicest possible way, of course)

The Archway!

Umfortunately the lacework pennants did not photo well in the breeze but the attention to detail was overwhelming, even to the two springs of lavender suspended from each ladder.   (Must say, I deviated here a wee bit, there was only supposed to be one sprig in each bottle!)

The Travel theme

this was a different way to get them to all sign in!
