Tsunami Alert!!!
This morning I went down to the beach to see if I could see a Tsunami!! We had an alert after the Earthquake in Chile. Its amazing that such a disaster could have consequences so far away in Tasmania, but luckily nothing happened!! There were a few more people around than usual for a Sunday morning, but they were not keeping to the high ground.
The only photos I managed to get were these, so you will have to make do with them. I like the solitary little silhouette of the seagull in the second photo, I was so busy concentrating on the sky and the boats I did not even realize he was there.
It is really quite chilly today, after 80 consecutive days of hot weather we are down to a measly 17 degrees. But they have promised a good week ahead.

Tim's Chooks
Tim's first lot of hatchlings are coming on well, not every little chick gets brought up in a 'real' incubator!!
When we go over there now there are chickens all over the place, in various shades of brown and white and in various sizes so if you know anyone who wants new laid eggs, just let me know. Oh, and save your egg cartons will you?

Hobart's Sunday Farmers Market
This is a relatively new venture and is going very well. We have been twice now, and today we spent up quite big!! as you can see by the last photo. The market is increasing in popularity, at the beginning they were all sold out by 9 a.m. but now they have managed to attract a few more stalls of all local produce and the standard is very high, the prices too, but you don't mind so much when you know that ALL the money goes to the Farmers or producers.
After the Market we took Heidi for a Latte at Dru Point, then we went back to her place to learn a new skill!!!
Ahhh!
Teaching Old Dogs New Tricks!!
Today we learned a new skill - Sushi Making!! We went over to Heidi's and Karlo gave us a demonstration and then we had a go. It was fun, and surprisingly I quite enjoyed the Sushi, I have always resisted this new food in the past, convinced I would not like seaweed and that it would be boringly bland, but not so, we kept to vegetarian centres and will certainly have a go at home in the near future.

Boys and their Toys!!

So now it is Saturday 20th Feb and it is 3.03 pm right????
So now it is Saturday 20th Feb and it is 3.03 pm right????
Bugger!
Not only did it get the time wrong, it even got the date wrong, today is Saturday - a Day of Total Fire Ban, so its a 'stay inside and blog' day for me.
Testing, testing!!
This is just a short Blog to see if I have finally managed to put the time right on my Blog, as sometimes I may give you the impression that I sit up all night Blogging. I can assure you this is not the case, I might get up to make a cup of tea, let a fly out (yes that is right, last night we had a fly in the room and by turning on a light further up the hallway and turning off lights in the bedroom, the fly usually flies toward the light and then you jump out of bed quick and shut the door, before he comes back again!!) Try it sometime.

Dr. I've got worms!
Did I ever tell you the joke about the old lady (Mrs. Jones) who was always going to the Doctor and telling him what was wrong with her, never waiting for his diagnosis. Then one day she died and was laid to rest! Not long after the Doctor died and co-incidentally he was buried right in the next grave to her.
He was just laying back there thinking how peaceful it was when there was a knocking on his coffin. "Whose there?" said the Doctor. "Dr. its me, Mrs. Jones, I think I've got worms!"
Well, joking apart - I really have got worms, a wormfarm full of them, and what do you think their favourite food is? Watermelon, so today they are in for a feast.
Heidi is Home!!

Bird Walk
Before all the awful events of the past week I went on a Bird Walk with Birds Tas. You have to get used to spending half an hour discussing (very quietly) whether it is a Grey Cuckoo Shrike or a Pallid Cuckoo but it gets much easier when it is a little furry duckling on a lily pad!! Isn't he sweet?
This morning I got back to walking but decided not to take the camera, just a quick walk to the end of the beach and back. Bad decision, I came across a Fairy Penguin, alive but obviously in some distress up on the shoreline. I didn't have my phone, there was no one around, but eventually a nice young couple came along, they were used to 'Animal Rescue' as they recently found an injured Cormorant on the rocks, so they took care of it and said there was an animal rescue place not far from here. Wish I had had my camera, he was a sweet little thing, hope he will be
alright.
Things are looking up!!
As you can imagine, with this cheery photo of the Sunflowers we took in for Heidi, things are looking a bit brighter and hopefully she may be home later this week after a few more tests.
Haven't felt much like blogging, and it is amazing what a lot of mundane things you can get done in the middle of the night when you can't sleep. I have made biscuits, washed the kitchen floor and done the ironing, all in the wee small hours of the morning!
Talk again soon.

Been pre-occupied lately!
Sorry if I have not been here lately, but we have been spending a lot of time with Heidi in ICU at the Hospital.
For obvious reasons I will not go into detail here but if you want to know anymore, just email, the worst is over now, and hopefully it is just a matter of time before she is back with us, we miss her.
