It's THIS time of the year again

Getting to dread going out to my veggie patch in case there is another one lurking!

An addition to the neighbourhood!

Nobody got Committee of Management permission to keep possums under their tree!   They look sweet little creatures but this is probably the culprit for my recently well nibbled new plum trees, little Bugger!

One beautiful new bathroom!

After a few visits from grandson George our old bathroom went from this to this?

A couple of days on Bruny

Decided that short breaks are the way to go for us these days so this was the first if what I hope to be a monthly occurrence.
Caught the ferry, packed in like sardines, in no time we were driving off the other side and on our way to 43° described as "Luxury Spa Suites ideal for a romantic Getaway!"
Unfortunately the only photo from the outside was a bit in the dark but I think you can get the idea.
Inside it was lovely, only about six weeks old so everything brand spanking new.
In the morning our breakfast was delivered to our doorstep, fresh croissants and warm bread, with fruit and a selection of jams and jellies, yum!   We had a visit from the resident wallaby and his Mum and there were lots of birds around in the newly planted bamboos and magnolias alongside our deck.
The establishment had won awards for being eco friendly, the Owner/Builder Pete could be very pleased with his handiwork.  We hope we will go there again soon.   That little boat ride really makes it that bit special.

Visitors

Today we had visitors, Heidi and Jack came to Bruny to check out our groovy accommodation and the plan had originally been for me to do a bushwalk with Jack while Heidi and Ken explored the Island but the soaring temperature soon put a stop to that, only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun!   So instead we went all over the place, checked out similar accommodation for a future visit, drove down to Cloudy Bay, then to the southern most lighthouse in the Southern Hemisphere, had lunch at the only Hotel on the island, got absolutely covered in sandy mud when we had to pass a road grader who was spraying muddy sandy water as he flattened the road.   You should have seen the cars when we had finished, it was straight to the car wash!

A walk in the Rainforest - in the rain

It was raining when we awoke on our last day on Bruny but undaunted I decided to do the short walk up to Mavista Falls so once we had packed up and signed out off we went.   Ken stayed in the car and I promised to take no chances and be back in 45 minutes.   It was lovely, if somewhat muddy in places and I couldn't quite get to the Falls 'cos stupidly I had left my walking pole in the car and it was a bit tricky.   Never mind, next time.
And so back to catch the noontime ferry and home again.
