Purple Potatoes

were on the menu tonight, together with Beefo Carbonnade and various vegetables. Although the potatoes tasted exactly like the normal white ones, there is something about eating such a highly coloured vegetable, give me the normal ones next time please!

A visit to the Thermal Pool and Hastings Caves

I went with Alison and the Boys down to Hastings to visit the Caves. We were unlucky with the Platypus, he didn't show up, and we didn't take our bathers (thank goodness) but we had a good day, nevertheless!!

It was really hard to chose

which photos to put up, there were so many fascinating vistas, it was the first time for Rowan down a 'real' cave so he was all agog. But they did agree that photo No 4 did look a bit like Et's finger! .

We were not alone in the caves

Time out at Dru Point.

We 'Boy Sat' Rowan and Cameron recently as Paul popped over to Sydney to have dinner with a friend, and thanks to Volcanic Ash blown all the way over from Chile, Paul is still in Sydney, and will be there till next Sunday,a delay of over a week. Things have been really chaotic here, on a small scale compared with what the Northern Hemisphere had not so long ago, but it co-incided with the long weekend (day off for the Queen's Birthday - don't really want the Queen but she is good for a day off!) so many people got stranded either here in Tassie or on 'the other island'

They had fun on the swings but even more fun in the Dogs Adventure Playground.

The boys liked the new puppy

We went over to Heidi's to visit Daisy and Mo, and we played "We all pat the dog"

Desperate Measures

When it is chilly and you are in a hurry you do anything to speed up the rising of the dough, even if it means wrapping the food processor up in a warm towel!

Rob's Website

This is Rob, this is where I go every morning to see how much money has been donated so far, $53,000.00 is still a long way to the Thirtynine Million he hopes to raise, but he has only been on the road (sorry) the sea - for a week. He has some good video clips on his Blog, worth going to have a look.

Round the wrong way!

This was the Borsch which I made with the lovely beetroots in the next Blog! and maybe this is the time to tell you what I am up to lately!

Rob Pennicott, a local lad who runs ecotours round Bruny Island and down at Port Arthur in rubber dingies, is raising money to eradicate Polio from the World. Bill Gates and Rotary International have donated millions but they are 40 Million Dollars short so Rob is circumnavigating Australia (in an anti clockwise direstion) in an l8 ft Yellow boat (in fact you can google him or find him on the Web and read all about it for yourself. www.followtheyellowboatroad.com or you can even follow him on Facebook.

And I, for my part, (having had polio when I was l8) am doing my bit, with the help and support of Ken of course. We are having dinner parties here, for four or six people, when they get a three course homecooked meal for $28, which is quite cheap by todays standards.

The menu changes every time, (so it doesn't get too boring for me) and my challenge is that I have to budget for a good meal for $8 per person, which takes a bit of doing, but can be done if you don't offer fillet steak or atlantic salmon!!!

No doubt you will be hearing about my progress, so far we have had two dinners and raisd $284, so if we can keep on at this rate we will be up to $1000 in no time. Rob is taking three months for the trip, so I hope to do this for the next three months. One thing is for certain, Ken and I won't starve!

Bounty from the Farmers Market

This was our haul last Sunday. Being winter the stalls were somewhat depleted but we still found some lovely fresh beetroots for Borsch and my favourite Strawberry Balsamic Dressing. The apples you could mix and match, pack your own bag and choose from quite a few varieties, all for $4 a bag, what a bargain!

Somebody thinks I am very special!

Why walk when you can get a lift?

Seriously though, this is a very special dog, with a $2000 (and still counting) vet's fee for some ligament damage done on the Doggy Beach when she was jumped upon by a BIG dog!
